The Post Download Request plugin adds a download request section to your WordPress posts. Visitors can request to download content by filling out a simple form. You (the administrator) will receive these requests via email and can manage them from your WordPress dashboard.
Installation
Step 1: Install the Plugin
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
- Go to Plugins → Add New
- Click the Upload Plugin button at the top
- Choose the plugin ZIP file and click Install Now
- After installation, click Activate Plugin
Step 2: Verify Installation
After activation, you will see:
- A new menu item called “Download Requests” in your WordPress admin sidebar
- A download section automatically appearing at the bottom of your blog posts
How It Works
The Complete Flow

Visitor reads a blog post

Sees "Download" section at the bottom

Clicks the "Download" button

A popup form appears

Visitor fills in:
• Name
• Email ID
• Mobile Number
• Reason for Download

Clicks "Download Request"

Admin receives email notification

Admin manually sends the download link
For Visitors (Frontend) How to Request a Download:
- Click the “Download” button – A popup window will appear
- Fill in the form:
- Name: Enter your full name
- Email ID: Enter your email address
- Mobile No.: Select your country code and enter your phone number
- Reason to Download: Briefly explain why you want to download
- Click “Download Request” – Your request will be submitted
- Success Message – You’ll see this message:”We will be sending download link to given Email ID or Mobile Number in 24 hours.”
- Close the popup – Click the “Close” button or the X in the corner
What Happens Next
- The website administrator receives your request via email
- They will review your request
- The download link will be sent to your email or mobile within 24 hours
For Administrators (Backend)
Accessing the Dashboard
After installing the plugin, you’ll find “Download Requests” in your WordPress admin sidebar.
The menu has three sections:
- Download Requests – View and manage all requests
- Excluded Posts – Manage which posts don’t show the download section
- Settings – Configure the plugin
Managing Download Requests
Viewing Requests
- Go to Download Requests in your WordPress menu
- You’ll see a table with all download requests showing:
- ID: Request number
- Post: Which post the request is for
- Name: Visitor’s name
- Email: Visitor’s email
- Mobile: Visitor’s phone number
- Date: When the request was submitted
Searching and Filtering
- Search: Use the search box to find specific requests
- Filter by Post: Select a specific post to see only its requests
Deleting Requests
- Find the request you want to delete
- Click the “Delete” button next to it
- Confirm deletion when prompted
Request Information
Each request contains:
- The visitor’s full name
- Their email address
- Their mobile number
- The post they’re interested in
- Their reason for downloading
- The date and time of the request
Excluding Posts
Why Exclude Posts?
Sometimes you don’t want the download section to appear on certain posts. For example:
- Pages that are not blog posts
- Posts that don’t have downloadable content
- Special posts that shouldn’t have this feature
