Drinking Water Supply Management System is web-based application automates the management of drinking water supply operations and associated billing/invoicing processes. Built with a distributed architecture and centralized MySQL database storage, it provides an efficient platform for handling online orders of drinking water bottles (or similar products), user registrations, order tracking, and administrative oversight. Its main purpose is to digitize and automate the process of selling and delivering bottled drinking water to homes, offices, and other customers.
This isn’t a large-scale municipal water pipeline billing system (like tracking tap water usage via meters). Instead, it focuses on packaged drinking water delivery businesses — the kind where people order purified bottled water from local suppliers for daily use.
Core workflow:
- Customers (end-users) register on the website.
- They browse the available types/sizes of drinking water bottles or jars.
- They place an online order specifying quantity, delivery address, and preferred time if applicable.
- The order goes to the supplier (admin side).
- Admin/staff views new orders → accepts or rejects them → updates status (e.g., “accepted”, “dispatched”, “delivered”, “cancelled”).
- Customers can check their order history and current status.
- Admin also manages the product catalog (add/update/delete different bottle types, prices, descriptions).
- Basic reporting is available on the admin dashboard: total orders, new orders, delivered orders, cancelled orders, number of registered customers, number of supplier companies (if multi-vendor), etc.
The system is developed using PHP for the frontend/backend logic and MySQL for data storage. It features two main users:
- Admin:
- Dashboard: Overview of key metrics (total orders, new orders, accepted orders, delivered orders, cancelled orders, registered companies/suppliers, and total registered users).
- Drinking Water Bottle Management: Add, update, or delete records of available drinking water products/bottles.
- Order management, user/company oversight, and reporting functionalities.
- Customer:
- Customers can register/login, browse available drinking water bottles/products, place online orders for home/office delivery, view order status, and interact with basic features like contact/about pages.
Guest users (non-registered visitors) can view public pages such as About Us, Contact Us, and the list of available drinking water options, but must register to place any orders.
This project is particularly useful for small to medium drinking water suppliers, bottled water distribution businesses.
